Logline

In this hour long documentary we experience the life of a Tornedalen village in the north of Sweden. Through the eyes of Rosa, Mariann, Oliver, Robyn and many more we learn about what life is like in this northern part of the world and how their small village seem to have handled some very big historical event both past and present.

Synopsis

Meet the people in the northern village of Muodoslompolo, Tornedalen, Sweden. A small community undergoing major transformations and with deep connections to a dark side of Swedish history.

Through the village's eldest, Rosa, we learn about its history. All the while, we meet more locals and not least new inhabitants that make this place a multi-national community, coming to life with get-togethers and kick-sled racing events. Susann and Karin from Stockholm, Robin from America, Mariann from Holland, and Oliver from England, are all stand-out personalities that make the most enjoyable company.

Woven into feel-good moments of today's life in Tornedalen, the film delves into a time when children were living in workhouses instead of homes, losing their language and culture. This story leads us to the reburial of skulls stolen from this very village 150 years ago.
